FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE A Catch of Shadows Theater Company and Santa Cruz City Schools Alternative Family Education (Homestudy) Program present their fourth spring theatrical production, Fortune's Wheel. This year's original play written and directed by Laura Wilson is a tale of sorcery and adventure that follows the story of a powerful curse, the fate of a kingdom and its royal family across several generations. Once again this group of homestudy students, dedicated to high quality student theater, pour their considerable talents, time, and imagination into the performance, costuming, set design and overall production of this magical play. This marks the fourth season of this company which presents an original play in the spring and a Shakespearean production in the fall. A Catch of Shadows previous spring productions included Keys to Camebrien, Gate of the Winds and Beyond the Ash Grove, all original plays written and directed by Laura Wilson. The fall productions have included Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and A Midsummer Night's Dream. With each season this company's skills become more refined and this production promises to be the best yet. The company's newly acquired fog machine will lend its magic to the show. The cast of students from grades K-12 was limited to 40 due to the overwhelming interest. Those chosen are delighted to help bring this story to life. It is fortunate that the city schools can provide such a rich opportunity for homestudy students to pursue their passion for theater arts. Producer Judy Reveaux-Wright helps to guide the overall production, and Musical Director Bill Wright brings his talents to the show. "Fortune's Wheel" is entertainment for the entire family with rich costuming, magical characters, special effects, original music and dance. Come and enjoy!
